For the Love of Light
I have always been fascinated with light.
I love the warmth of its luminence as it wraps us in its gaze and the way it reigns down on Earth with rays of affection. Sometimes it can be harsh but at all the right times, it is the most forgiving. I love the way it pushes through every obstacle-shedding shadows at every turn and how it fills every space the moment it's turned on.
The light on the day of our shoot arrived in full force. There wasn't a cloud in the sky but the day was beautiful and breezy and a very typical "fall" day in Texas.
We had just wrapped at our first location and were gearing up for our second shoot at the lovely Gypsy Farms in Bulverde, Texas. We were greeted with warm smiles and excited energy and were introduced to the staff and horses. We were given a small tour of the stables and then immediately began setting up for our shoot. Two of the horses were especially curious about all the commotion that we were causing and one even stuck his head in a stall we were getting ready in to see what all the fuss was about! Our talented models, Mia Isabella and Gypsy were the perfect pair and the wardrobe provided by Cavender's was a western dream with a romantic twist.
All styling was done by our Creative Director and Lead Stylist Miriam Jesaijes and assisted by Taylor Lane, Director of Digital Media for San Antonio Woman Magazine.
A special thanks to the owner of Gypsy Farms Sara Winder for your hospitality and professional guidance with these majestic creatures and of course a huge thank you to Cavender's for providing the beautiful wardrobe for this fun fashion spread.

the Scenes
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work
The most important part of any successful photo shoot is the team and the work they do to make each project "picture perfect" (pun totally intended).
Hours and hours of behind the scenes work is completed for every shoot. From start to finish, each piece of the puzzle is designed, planned, and polished.
The Magazine
For this fashion shoot, I worked with Creative Director and magazine guru Miriam Jesijes. Miriam has worked in the publication world for many years and helped design and creatively direct several publications in the Netherlands. She is also San Antonio Woman's lead stylist and styled each look for this shoot along with Taylor Lane, Director of Digital Media for San Antonio Woman and local model. The magazine is lead by Editor in Chief, Cathleen Lane, who took over the publication in 2020 along side her husband, Dale Lane. Together, the pair have worked tirelessly to bring the vision they have for the magazine to life and to support, inspire, and educate the women in San Antonio. You can view the current issue and this fashion spread here.
The Talent
Our talent and fabulous model for this spread was the incredible Mia Isabella. Mia is one of the most sought after models here in San Antonio, Texas and has had a stellar career so far. She has been published both locally and internationally and is currently signed with not one but two modeling agencies here in Texas. A multifaceted artist, Mia is also an actor, a talent scout, and helps train/coach new models in the industry. Recently, Mia has been expanding her artistic endeavors to include photography and has shot with several local models in town, including myself! As a young professional in the industry, Mia's work ethic is unparalleled, her enthusiasm is infectious, and with all of her grit and talent, is well on her way to a fruitful career as an artist and entrepreneur.
The Clothes
I love fashion. I love that I can express myself through the power of presentation. What I love about all the clothes from Cavender's is the ability to dress them up or down with just a few simple garments or accessories. Weather you are going to work at the office, out for a ride, or enjoying a night out, these garments will have you covered no matter what the occasion. My personal favorite is the Rodeo King hat by Cavender's adorned with the Clear Crystal Cross hatband for a little extra shimmer. The best part is that you can purchase all of these items right now through the Cavender's site or by visiting one of their many locations in town.
