Jessica Ramm
The Artistry of Friendship
It was the spring of 2018 and I was just beginning the journey of finding my light. I had already been photographing humans for some time but I wanted to find "the light"-my light-the one I could call my own. My "signature" as some would call it.
So I did what I usually do in situations like these-I took to gathering data. I knew that I needed to practice it to find it so I decided to do just that. I was also preparing to teach a workshop in April of that year on the art of photographing dancers with fabric and decided to book some studio time to create new images for the workshop and also play with lighting that I had always wanted to explore.
In search of a professional dancer, I took to Instagram to find a local dancer that would be willing to model and collaborate on a few projects. ~Enter Jessica Ramm~ Her feed was fun to look through, entertaining, and full of professional shenanigans as I followed her professional journey in imagery. I got a pretty cool vibe from her profile so I sent her a message and the rest is history, folks!
Jessica and I have been friends ever since our first shoot and have continued to create together and help each other grow as artists and fellow humans over the years. I didn't end up finding "the light" during that shoot, and as my search continues to #followthelight, I am fortunate enough to continue to create, study, and explore with Jessica and other fellow and amazing creatives. Recently, I was honored to photograph Jessica and her fiance, Zane for their fun and whimsical engagement photos (see below) and will be photographing their union in November of 2021. For trusting me with this, I am immensely grateful.
And in support of this fellow local artist and friend, I want to invite you to follow and engage with her as she continues in her journey as an artist, a dancer, a teacher, a model, and (soon) a graphic designer.
