Jessica Ramm
San Antonio Artist
Our next artist for this week's #AlamoCityArtist and #WomenWednesday feature is local dancer Jessica Ramm.
I met Jessica back in the spring of 2018 and what began as a creative endeavor turned into a life long friendship. I have watched Jessica grow over the years from a professional ballerina, to a choreographer, into an abstract artist, and now into a budding graphic designer.
For as long as I have known her, Jessica has always strived for (and achieved) her goals of being the best version of herself. A Texas native, Jessica is originally from Seabrook, Texas and has traveled the country dazzling audiences in popular productions such as The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, Coppelia, Cinderella, and Giselle, just to name a few and has danced in professional companies in Canada, Oklahoma, Alabama, and with our very own Ballet San Antonio.
A life long learner and lover of the arts, Jessica has taken her passion for dance to the classroom as well. Jessica teaches a wide variety of dance styles and is a constant inspiration to her students through her creative works and positivity.
One thing I admire about Jessica is her unique ability to inspire her fellow artists in creative ways. The arts were hit hard during the pandemic and many artists were left without jobs and feeling incredibly un-motivated, un-inspired, and sad. In response to this, Jessica continued to teach her students online while creating her most ambitious piece to date-a virtual ballet called "Bound".
"Bound" debuted in the fall of 2020 and featured professional dancers from all over the globe. Each artist was taught choreography and then recorded themselves performing their part. Jessica then began the challenging task of piecing all of the footage together to create a virtual masterpiece and a one of a kind experience. Represented regions included: Texas, Canada, Oklahoma, Alabama, Tasmania, Virginia, California, Missouri, North Carolina, and Brazil.
And now, continuing on her journey as an artist, Jessica is pushing her creative boundaries even more and is on her way to a successful career as a graphic designer.
